After reading a Fortune Magazine article naming Sarasota as having one of the top ranking school systems in the country, I was sold. Aside from being a beautiful, vibrant, fun town, the schools are top notch and award winning. . ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS - Elementary schools in Sarasota County operate during the hours of 8:30am - 3:15 pm. They include Grades K-5. Although Sarasota does offer school choice, some schools are full once their districted students are assigned and may not be available to non-districted students.
