Annual Craft Fair Comes To Downtown Sarasota This Month
Posted by See Sarasota Live on
The 10th Annual Downtown Sarasota Craft Fair is coming right up; it’s May 18th and 19th, on Gulfstream Avenue overlooking the water.
More than 100 of North America’s most noted craft artists will return to downtown Sarasota for the area’s largest yearly crafts event. Pottery, jewelry, ceramics, paintings, plants, food items, and more will be displayed and on sale. In previous years this has been a hugely popular event; more than 30,000 are expected to attend this year’s Downtown Craft Fair. The Annual Downtown Sarasota Craft Fair is produced by Howard Alan Events and American Craft Endeavors, and the Herald-Tribune Media Group is this year’s sponsor. Admission to the Craft Fair is free to everyone; the hours are 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 18th and 19th. The Craft Fair has moved this year to Gulfstream Avenue, running from Coconut Avenue to Main Street, a spectacular location looking over Sarasota’s splendid downtown waterfront.
You can expect to see a variety of intriguing and sometimes stunning craft work; you’ll see photography, ceramics, floral and silk arrangements, and even handmade clothes. You’ll also discover art and craftwork ranging from modestly-priced handmade jewelry to sculptures selling for $50,000. Artists and crafters are selected for participation in the Craft Fair through a process designed to ensure only the most superlative exhibits. This year, a “Green Market” is being added at the Crafts Fair; it will feature a variety of plants, orchids, and kettle corn. The Annual Downtown Sarasota Craft Fair is a remarkable weekend experience of fine art and authentic craftwork along with delightful food and fantastic shopping opportunities. For the safety and comfort of everyone, the following items are not allowed on-site: weapons, coolers, glass containers, skates, skateboards, or in-line skates.
Set on Sarasota’s scenic waterfront, the 10th Annual Downtown Sarasota Craft Fair is one of the greater Sarasota area’s many worthwhile annual outdoor events. A number of distinctively different arts and crafts festivals, music festivals, farmers markets, and similar community events enhance Sarasota’s quality of life throughout the year and make the Sarasota area one of the most attractive destinations anywhere.
