Oh, December you are flying by! Mid-month has quickly come upon us, and with it, the excitement of the upcoming holidays have created an energy in the air that is palpable. From the popular to less populated, we have your week covered with fun ways to make the most of every day. We hope you enjoy the beautiful weather and great events Sarasota has in store for you.

 

Dec. 18 – 30, Lights in Bloom at Selby Gardens

Lights in Bloom at Selby GardensThe 12th annual Lights in Bloom spectacular holiday presentation by Marie Selby Botanical Gardens will dazzle attendees starting this Friday from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. With over a million lights dramatically placed throughout the beautiful Selby grounds, the evening is sure to be one for the books. This will be the twelfth year that Selby Gardens has been delighting patrons of all ages with their famous holiday decorations. Interactive photo opportunities, music, food and festivities transform the normally breathtaking grounds into a North Pole wonderland worthy of Santa’s grandest party. Guests are $25, members are $20, children ages 5-12 are $7.50, and children under 5 are free. A complimentary shuttle service will be available from the State Street Parking Garage. Burns CourtDec. 18 - 20 Snow Fest Sarasota
There will be snow in Sarasota! Snow tires and ice scrapers not needed for this fun adventure happening at Ringling Shopping Center across from Payne Park this weekend. Enjoy giant snow slides, build snowmen, and get your picture taken with Santa. Candy cane hula hoopers, jelly bean jugglers, DJ Grinch, and an amusement and kids play area will also be available. Come join the fun and take a slide on a snow hill in 80 degree weather. Festivities run from 12:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Fri., Sat., and Sun. Kids 12 and under are free. Dec. 18 - 19 Circus Nutcracker Ballet

Circus Nutcracker Ballet Experience John Ringling’s Circus Nutcracker at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Friday at 7:30 P.M. This unique adaptation of the classical tale, The Nutcracker, is beautifully interwoven with the story of John and Mabel Ringling’s circus ties to Sarasota. Set to Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, the Sarasota Orchestra beautifully depicts this beloved ballet. Dec. 18 Downtown Friday Night at Towles Court

Don’t miss Live from Downtown, it’s Friday Night. Enjoy shopping and dining amid a popular art walk at trendy Towles Court from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M. Boutiques, art galleries, sculptures and more will be on hand for creative purchases or to spur on your inner creativity. Old-Florida bungalows create a perfect venue for a bit of retail and entertainment therapy.
