For Pete’s Sake

Have any plans for this weekend?
If not, you should stop by “For Pete’s Sake”.
This Sunday, August 4th, there will be a benefit for a really great cause at the Old Packinghouse Café. From 1:00pm – 8:00pm there will be a 14-band lineup consisting of local bands in the area who were willing to gather together to help a local man and his family through the after affects of cancer.
Pete Arevalo (a musician locally known as Acoustic Pete) has two sons, Jeff and Pedro, who followed in their father’s footsteps to become successful musicians—Both of which have been students at Berkley College of Music. Pete's eldest son, Pedro, is in a band with Richard “Dickey” Betts, who you might recognize a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band.
Sadly, Pete was recently diagnosed with oral cancer and it required the surgical removal of a part of his tongue. This is detrimental for anyone…especially a musician. As if this was not enough, Pete also lost his wife to cancer when the their boys were much younger. Pete is known for his great music and all the good he does in the area, so let’s give back to him and his family.
Let’s not let cancer win.
Make sure you show up at the benefit to support the Arevalos and help with the massive amounts of medical bills that always seem to linger after cancer has been conquered. The benefit costs only $10 at the door, which includes food, live music and a CD. There will also be a silent auction, which is rumored to include a couple of guitars and even some motorcycle gear.
So, if you are looking for a good time this weekend…and also feel like helping out a great family, stop by the Old Packinghouse this Sunday (August 4th) and be prepared to have a good time with some great people.
