On Thursday night, April 18th, Michael’s will set another milestone when it hosts the kick-off event of “Whiskey Obsession”, southwest Florida’s first-ever whiskey festival!
For more than 25 years, the acclaimed Michael’s on East has offered superlative cuisine and the finest wines to discerning Sarasota diners. Michael’s is frequently recognized in industry publications as one of the nation’s preeminent restaurants; the establishment has received the AAA Four-Diamond Award for each of the last 23 years. On Thursday night, April 18th, Michael’s will set another milestone when it hosts the kick-off event of “Whiskey Obsession”, southwest Florida’s first-ever whiskey festival. Whiskey Obsession is being coordinated by Sarasota whiskey scholar and connoisseur Turner C. Moore; the event is designed to celebrate fine single malt, blended Scotch and American whiskies, Bourbon and rye, and whiskies from around the world. Moore has been conducting bi-monthly whiskey tastings at Michael’s for several years, offering opinions and appetizers alongside the samples of fine spirits.
Whiskey Obsession begins on April 18th at Michael’s Wine Cellar location, on South Tamiami Trail adjacent to the restaurant. An exclusive panel discussion with three Master Distillers and five professional Brand Ambassadors will be limited to only 40 select guests. VIP ticket holders will be granted priority. On Friday night, April 19th, Whiskey Obsession moves to the elegant ballroom at Michael’s on East for the festival’s Grand Tasting. Several small group classes will also be offered with the Grand Tasting; the classes will address topics such as “Cigar and Whiskey Pairing” and “Scotch vs. Irish Whiskey.” Attendees will have the opportunity to sample over 150 different products and to meet with distillers, importers, and other industry insiders. Appetizers and an extravagant buffet will be included. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. with VIP admission at 6:30 p.m. Every guest will be given a complementary Glencairn whiskey glass for attending. On-site package sales will also be available.
When the Grand Tasting is concluded, Whiskey Obsession’s Official After-Party will continue until 2:00 a.m. at the Made Restaurant, 1990 Main Street. Attendees can enjoy a relaxing conclusion to the Whiskey Obsession festival with no cover charge. This unique celebration of spirits is one of the many cultural festivals and events that booming, dynamic Sarasota will be hosting this spring.
