Point of Rocks is another beach location on Siesta Key. This spot also has the soft, white quartz sand found on Siesta Key beach. Point of Rocks is named for the formation of limestone rock that extends from the beach out into the Gulf of Mexico. This area is a great environment for both fishing and snorkeling. Since it is geologically unique, it has become home to a wide array of fish. For many years, this area has been used as a landmark for mariners, and according to legend it has been the starting point for pirate treasure maps. Point of Rocks is located just south of the Stickney Point Causeway.
