North Jetty Beach Park
A BEAUTIFUL BEACH WITH LOTS OF ACTIVITIES
At the south end of Casey Key, North Jetty Beach Park is one of Sarasota County’s delightful treasures. There’s a spectacular beach, of course, with gently-sloping white sand stretching along 900 feet of shoreline on the Gulf of Mexico. Amenities include several free parking areas, lifeguards, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and a playground. An expansive picnic area features plenty of tables with tin-roof shelters and brick barbeque pits. It’s a beach that’s beloved by families and kids of all ages. But the beach is only part of the fun at North Jetty Beach Park.
An immensely popular fishing jetty sits right at Casey Key’s southern tip, where the Gulf meets the Intracoastal Waterway. Anglers of all ages cast for Spanish mackerel, snapper, redfish, and mullet. Local fishing enthusiasts mingle with families and vacationers. The adjacent North Jetty Fish Camp offers burgers, hot dogs, Polish sausages, and frozen treats. You can also purchase cold beer, bait, and a fishing license at the Fish Camp.
If you’re looking for recreation in the surf, North Jetty Beach Park is known as a popular gathering spot for kayaking and canoeing enthusiasts, surfers, snorkelers, bird watchers, and shell collectors. Sarasota County acquired the park and beachfront for public use in 1979. North Jetty Beach Park had to be fully redesigned in 1985 after a hard winter freeze killed hundreds of the towering Australian pines that had covered and provided shade to the park.
The sunsets at North Jetty Beach Park are among the most remarkable anywhere along Florida’s Gulf Coast. No high-rises obstruct the spectacular view; the residences on Casey Key are almost entirely single-family homes and waterfront estates. With beautiful luxury homes nearby, a sunny and semi-tropical year-round climate, and the ideal island location, North Jetty Beach Park is one of the Sarasota County beaches that draw thousands of visitors and new residents to the area every year. North Jetty Beach Park is open to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, although parking is closed from midnight to 6:00 a.m.
