Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week, running from June 1st through June 14th, is an event designed to celebrate the Sarasota's many fabulous chefs and 5-star restaurants.
The Sarasota community is widely-known for its commitments to the arts and the environment. Sarasota’s beaches are among the world’s most spectacular. The city is also known for its award-winning schools and top-notch medical facilities. Sarasota is not, however, thought of as a great dining city, yet it’s the home of more top-rated restaurants per square mile than any other city in Florida. Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week, running from June 1st through June 14th, is an event designed to celebrate the city’s many fabulous chefs and 5-star restaurants.
Originally a week-long summer celebration when it was initiated in 2006, Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week has grown into a 2-week-long opportunity for patrons at nearly 40 area restaurants to stimulate and satisfy and their taste buds at discount rates. Participating restaurants and chefs will be “putting on the Ritz” and enticing diners with fabulous menus, $15 lunches, and $29 dinners. Area restaurants returning to participate in Savor Sarasota this year include Cafe Americano, the Crow’s Nest, Cafe L'Europe, Michael's On East, the Polo Grill and Bar, and Pattigeorge's. First-time participants include Duval's New World Café, The Blue Rooster, and Darwin's on 4th. Every imaginable style of cuisine – from Peruvian to Thai – will be available.
The Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau, Sarasota Magazine, and Biz941 Magazine are the sponsors of this year’s Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week. Several of Sarasota’s luxury hotels will be getting in on the culinary action by offering discounted rooms to visitors arriving for Savor Sarasota. Wine tastings will also be part of the action this year. It’s an opportunity to acknowledge and honor Sarasota’s most superb and popular chefs, including Alfredo Loza (Chef at Pattigeorge's), Don Hayley (Executive Chef at Crow's Nest), Darwin Santa Maria (Executive Chef and Proprietor of Darwin's on 4th), and dozens of other Sarasota-area culinary artists.
The Sarasota community hosts golf and tennis tournaments, music and film festivals, yacht races, and even polo competitions; these events are hugely popular and draw big crowds, but few of them appeal to everyone. That’s what makes Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week unique; we all have to eat, so no one has an excuse for failing to be a part of this delightful area-wide celebration.
