Happy Thanksgiving, Sarasota! What a joyful time of year to gather with family and friends, share great meals and count your blessings. Many people have visitors in their homes over the holidays. And for all, there is an extra reason to be grateful this Thanksgiving, and that is our amazing November weather. Blue skies, sunny days, inviting and pleasant temperatures must mean it’s the holidays in Florida! Be sure to get out and enjoy the weekend’s festivities as we kick off the holidays, Sarasota-style.

  • Annual Siesta Key Turkey Trot Pub Crawl, Wednesday, Siesta Key Village 9:00 P.M.
    Tonight is the annual Siesta Key Village Turkey Trot pub crawl, one of the top party nights of the year! Gilligans, Daiquiri Deck, and Siesta Key Oyster Bar (SKOB) are the main organizers but all the Village bars participate. Patrons are packed shoulder-to-shoulder starting at about 10:30 p.m. so arrive early to get an armband so you don’t have to wait in long lines later.

  • Holly Days and Mangrove Lights, Historic Spanish Pointe, 337 N. Tamiami Trail, Osprey, Friday until 8 P.M.
    Delight in the twinkling lights that will transform this historical landmark into a holiday wonderland with musical entertainment. The museum will have extended hours through the event. Call (941) 966-5214 for more information.


  • Light Up Siesta Village Festival and Parade, Siesta Key Village, Saturday from 6 P.M. - 9 P.M.
    Experience the 31st year of this traditional event, with the annual lighting and holiday open house of Siesta Key Village. Enjoy the parade featuring classic cars, fire trucks and hand made holiday floats in spectacular colors, shapes and sizes. Santa will arrive by fire truck following the parade at approximately 6:15 pm and gift bags will be given to the first 250 children who visit with Santa and his elves. (Gift bags provided by Beach Bazaar). Santa’s arrival will correspond with the lighting of the Christmas tree located at the Gazebo at Ocean Boulevard and Canal Road at 6:15 P.M.

    Local businesses will provide refreshments, choirs will be singing holiday songs, and live musical entertainment by the Pine View High School Jazz Band to be enjoyed by all. Sunshine the clown will be there to enterain the children along with, face-painting and martial arts performances. Free Trolley Rides will be available from Siesta Key Public Beach to the Village from 5:30 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.


  • ALSO Youth 6th Annual 5K Turkey Trot, November 26th. 8:00 A.M.
    Hyatt Regency Sarasota, 1000 Blvd. of the Arts. This 5K course goes over the John Ringling Causeway and begins and ends at Hyatt Regency Sarasota. Open to all ages and abilities. $30 before November 18, $40 after. All proceeds benefit ALSO Youth. More information at


  • Burns Court Shop Small Saturday, Burns Court, Sarasota.
    Support local merchants all over Sarasota on Saturday, including those at Burns Court, who will be featuring trunk shows, food and drinks. 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
